he was, sorry I didn’t recall immediately.
If anyone knows anyone who’d like to take over America, please spread the word – I’ve posted it in the pydt discord server already
no dice on the general post thus far, I’ll hold my turn for a few days in the hope that we’re able to find a replacement player
I will join as America
Can’t find how to join the game though. First time joining a game in progress. Can someone let me know how please?
Iam also quite new, but i think, if you have over 500 turns, you can join by the client. Without 500 turn the PYDT Admin have to do it. In these case, the Game Admin wrote an incident in the discord. Relax and wait it is done.
Thanks for the update!
I’ll have you inserted into the game, thanks for volunteering!
Yay!! Looks like I’m in now! Game on!!!
Sweet! Now get to it soldier!
I’ll be
away from day 9 to 12 this month.
Please excuse my delay
on the mean time.
Hi all,
Just a curtesy about why I left this game. Have seen players leave without word in other games and it just sucks wondering wtf happened. Want to be clear there are no negative feelings from me; if you care about that stuff.
The triggering action is Montezuma taking my Settler. Sounds like a stupid reason in isolation - it happens all the time in Civ. It’s your own fault really if you left the settler exposed. Cool, I get that and appreciate that. I am not so petty to leave a game just because my settler was taken.
For me though, I joined the game late. In my opinion, there is an unspoken social contract between the players when starting a game. Again, just my opinion or feeling but not feeling that same level of responsibility in this game as others where I joined from the start.
Joining late was already a struggle. Apparently America was considered “viable” as at the time of my joining. We all know what viable really means. Otherwise, America would have been described as been in a good or excellent position. So it just feels especially bad when your neighbor, who is more than double your score takes your settler.
Again, not hating on Montezuma. The opportunity was there and it was taken. Civ multiplayer is essentially a PvP game, and all players have their personal values. For me, there’s no reason to stay in a feels bad game other than the social contract between players. Essentially, I feel responsibility enough to post this before leaving, but not enough to stay.
So… sorry to everyone else, since I just gave Montezuma a free settler, but I’m out.
Thanks for letting us know Beanz! It’s good to know that Aztecs have established a sufficiently dominant position that America’s position is not so viable …
And fair notice to the rest of the world: Aztecs are getting it done early, be prepared if you can be!
Hi All,
Now I feel a bit bad for my actions however, Aztec is an early strength Civ with little to help it in the mid to late game. The settler was outside American borders unescorted and I no longer had a declared friendship with them.
I appreciate @Beanz giving an explanation for leaving, that’s the decent thing to do. I also appreciate the sentiment about unspoken contracts between players and joining a game late in a difficult position. Please accept my apologies on this occasion @Beanz. It was just too good an opportunity to pass up.
I don’t think you should feel bad about it. Though I understand @Beanz not wanting to play any longer after that, capturing undefended settlers is something both the AI players and barbarians will do when given the opportunity.
Just realized I can still message on this board.
No hard feelings @Pete ! Don’t feel bad. Wishing you good luck. There will be one Aztec city that is ex-American settlers so go Aztecs!!!
Appreciate the others understanding.
Again, sorry things turned out like this.
Hope you all have a great game.
More than double the score? This will be fun when Aztec discovers Europe. I hope I will survive the experience
