Onan's game! (04a2043f)

Also if you’re worried that my trader’s first priority was a route to Poland (there is a pass!), you need not be. I tend to go for the highest yield, and that was it; also relatively short.

If my capital was on the same continent as yours I would be slightly more worried.

It has been weird to play without city states but I think I’m getting a bit more used to it. Lucky for @Onanista to roll United States that doesn’t need to worry about that useless Diplomatic Policy Slot. The rest of us will have to hope to gain an ally so we can plug in wisselbanken.

Here I was thinking somehow the game knew there were no CS, and that was why when I finally changed governments, I had two wildcard spots instead of the expected diplomatic(?)/CS one. That’s just American is it?

I obviously am not familiar enough with this game. I actually really like playing a turn or two a day. When I play SP turn after turn, after a while I just get overloaded with all the decisions required!

Unheeded.

Yeah, that’s what’s on the loading screen every time we take our turn (because Teddy is player one). All Diplomatic policy slots in the current government are converted to Wildcard slots.

Norway keeps expanding near your borders?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. So you’re saying this only happens for America? Or do you all get the diplo slots converted to wildcards, too?

Not a new city, but some very aggressive tile grabbing especially for a “friend”. He could see where I would plant, yes close to his city, but he left me few options. On his last turn he grabbed all the land right up to the spot, including an olives resource–a lux he already has, which I don’t. He mightve thought I’d move further away. But I’m stubborn like that. So now I have a city on Norway’s border. As in, city center on the border.

I wasn’t clueless before, but I’m under no illusions, now. At least he has less cash to upgrade his berserkers!

America only.

Ah, Founding Fathers, I see it now! I think I read it early on and since have disregarded, and didn’t really get it at first. Other effects were much more interesting. Now I see my luck, too!!

The incident has been commemorated by our cartographic historians.

@francisco.santanna

America seeks negotiations with her Viking neighbours, to avoid any further territorial disputes. Perhaps we could share our maps privately in order to draw up an agreed plan of settlement for the remaining territory to my east and your south?

I still have a lot of fog around you, so I have no idea how much space you have. I was out of practice with MP and civ6, which is why, when my scout found your border early on, I naively failed to explore your lands, out of a sense that you’d prefer not to have my scout poking around. The only city I can see is the new one near Cleveland. But I know you have several.

What say you?

Poland :poland: is expanding impressively, as well as pumping out great people and wonders. We celebrate our new friendship and await the arrival of your Great Merchant in our capital, even though our people don’t know if there will be any benefit to us!

Cree seem to be focusing tall rather than wide. Are you having barb trouble?

Hi guys. Just a head’s up that I will be having surgery in a few days, so I will need to put this aside for at least a few days. The recovery time off work is two weeks. Not sure how soon I’ll be picking up the laptop again. It’s a sinus operation.

Sorry to halt our developing game, it’s interesting. Okay to pause for a few days? Starting 3.25 days from now.

I will not settle more east than my eastmost city.
Good luck with your surgery. No problem to pause.

Thank you.

I expect east of your easternmost city will be ocean!

It’s your south and west I’m concerned about, which is my east. Also my only direction for further expansion, as over the mountains west is Poland, south is tundra and ocean, and north are Cree and Viking lands.

It’s okay if you prefer naked competition. An alternative path would be an actual look at the open land between us, and a plan to share it we can both agree to. Option 1, option 2, I suppose each has its risks.

Everyone is so busy!

We “thank” our Viking neighbours for strolling in and clearing the empty barb camp near Philadelphia. We hope you enjoy the spoils.

The taoist citizens of Washington pray the Polish worker in the sacred marsh on Washington’s doorstep, indeed IN Washington one day, will not be desecrated, thus deeply offending our Lady of the Reeds and Marshes, and angering our fervent citizens, not to mention despoiling the rich lands for our nesting birds.

(I don’t even know if you can clear outside your borders…but why else would a worker be there?)

Some barb trouble, yes. More just trouble training up settlers, to be honest. My second city is stubbornly stuck at -1 amenity, even though I’ve come into possession of a couple new amenities since it started giving me trouble. Argh.

Nothing nefarious. I’m just gonna harvest the stone in a tile that’s soon to be added to my kingdom. Don’t worry. It’s more than 3 tiles from any of your city centers.

Yeah, of course we can pause. I’m fine with pausing for vacations, surgery or other real world stuff. Just give a heads up if you know or suspect that you can’t take your turn within 24 hours. That would be nice to know.

Break a leg as they say! Maybe that’s not for surgery.
