How are people feeling about their development? America is taking steps to address its scientific and cultural backwardness.
Congratulations to the Cree on your astounding new gardens!

Lol, thanks! It’s always so hard to tell where you stand this early in the game. Usually I don’t realize I’m in trouble until somebody sends infantry and battleships my way, while I’m training up musketeers and frigates.
That said, I think I’m managing to stay competitive… for now…
That sounds like you should start mining the world rankings panel for information…
Whether the offer of Viking friendship was a cynical ploy to guarantee an unseen settler safe passage, or not, we hope our friendship will endure. This would be greatly facilitated by no further southern expansion, beyond this current settler, who seems to be in a nice spot for a city just where he is.
Oh, so you’re just going around making friends with everybody, eh Norway? I thought we had something special!
@Onanista Just to make my intentions clear, I’ve offered to swap open borders because I can’t see your capital from where I am, and if I can’t see your cities I can’t trade with them.
The mighty Cree seek to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with the noble Americans. We see no reason for hostility between our peoples.
We are stuck in our small lands in east since our ships did not find further land to settle.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but we’ll need to share the continent friendly.
Since we have such good visibility into the Cree cities in your fertile river lands, and because we welcome trade, your scout is welcome into our lands.
Speaking of trade, we will look to offer an exchange of ivory for another luxury resource in the near future, perhaps 10 turns or so? Perhaps for some mercury, @J_Dennis, if Poland would be amenable to such a trade? Thank you also for withdrawing your forces. Also, you may have some information Americans have long been too preoccupied to seek–do you know if there is a break in the mountains east of the city which is nearest to our lands, the one east of your capital? I suspect there is a pass…but then, no units have ever come out of the fog from there…so it could also be that we have a veritable shield wall between most of our two empires.
Ah, it would make sense that Vikings would live along the coast. Just to be clear, I have no problem with your newest city, I was just hoping we could avoid territorial disputes; if you are desiring further lands south of your new city, well, this could create tension between our peoples, which is best avoided.
Well aren’t we a thriving planet–golden ages all around!!
You’re a quiet bunch, aren’t you?
Not sure what happened last night–now I know I can’t trust my email notification on my phone. I was up late and keeping an eye out for the turn, and nothing. It wasn’t till I opened my email this morning and refreshed it that I saw the PYDT email, which had been before I’d gone to bed. Didn’t see it updated on the website either. Strange. Anyway, I’m blathering on, as I do. Will play it shortly. Up late / up early…
My phone is often on power saving mode and when it is it doesn’t update my emails at all. I have started to get a feeling when it’s getting to be my turn. About this hour and three hours from now is usually about my turn.
Congrats on The Oracle by the way. Your civ is looking like a faith / great person beast!
Thanks! I only got holy sites out and one single campus. Not much yet in way of great people.
Yes, not now, but in the future, you should be recruiting plenty of them.
The Vikings have an impressive ability to expand their lands–six cities and counting!
Very near future, as in recent past! Hypatia, was it? And Petra, too!
Trade deals, any deals: I have the unfortunate habit of pressing escape, thinking I can come back to it later. It seems that just dismisses them.
For what purpose does the quickly expanding Polish Empire (settled even closer to the Cree capital than mine!) seek access to our lands?
I want to explore, see the world! There must be more to life than this litte scrap of land to enjoy. I want to see foreign lands, taste the local cuisine in norway and find out why hamburger isn’t a German(who?) dish.
My settle is yet again closer to my own capital than my neighbour’s.
You’re not the only one with a habit of dismissing deals accidentally because you want to check the inventory first.
Counter-proposal offered. If you don’t like it but are eager to scout east toward Norway, there is a corridor of free territory north of my cap heading east, and you are welcome to use this. It should remain open for at least 10-15 turns.
