Good protip, most especially for those backward empires who can’t access Monarchy or other Tier 2 governments, yet!
Yep, I was a bit perplexed that only I had chosen Oligarchy.
I think most if not all of you chose classical republic when I checked.
I’ve since moved on to the next tier of government.
I guess this consideration never came up for me due to Teddy’s minor superpower.
It seems Jadwiga is in the mood and of a mind to spread her faworki ethic far and wide–her apostles are on the march!
Yeah, guilty. Try some faworki, great taste! I haven’t tried IRL.
I think this game is over soon. My start was too good. Sorry about that.
Faworki is also called Angel Wings. That rhymes really well with my winged hussars. I kinda had to choose that punny name.
Hmnn, yes, it was pretty huge. I guess you’re going for a religious win. How soon is soon? I have very little experience with religious wins / religious combat.
Seems a good reason to use those balance mods!
America’s ambassador to Poland vehemently protests the wanton slaughter of one of our missionaries of the peaceful Taoist faith on the steps his own Temple!!!
If this is how you treat your friends, how do you treat your enemies? Something with wings, no doubt…
We have requested you cease this aggressive behaviour.
Slaughter? No, my friend. I simply made them go home to rethink their faith. They laid down their scrolls and chalices and disbanded. No blood was shed. My religion is clearly the superior. You’ll see.
I have to convert more than half of every single players cities to my religion. I think I can win within 3-5 turns. (stated on turn 93 for future reference)
The scratch marks on your apostles’ arms belie this propaganda! What else can the world expect from such a righteous, backward looking theocracy?
These apostles must be stronger and faster than I’d ever imagined…unless they were poised offshore of the Viking empire, ready to pounce?
I really have only ever seen the AI conduct religious warfare. I guess these heretics will need to be dealt with in a more direct manner!
I managed to build wonders to give me more apostles, more charges on those apostles and a couple of gurus. I also have the golden age dedication that gives me even more charges and better speed on my apostles.
I moved most of them through the Cree empire. Norway had higherfaith generation and could mount a better defence if I didn’t surprise and overrun him.
Just…hypothetically speaking…if war were to break out, can these units be targeted directly? Off the top of my head I think this is called condemning heretics?
We always knew Poland was a beast.
Well, if your plans all come to fruition, what say we start a 5 player with Mr_6? With 4 players, the balance is so finely tuned, it seems no one wants to go to war at all. I’m thinking I might get the remaining DLC, and also use those 2-3 MP balance & helper mods.
Work ethic is changed and for the most part nerfed in the better balance mod. Poland seems to have gotten stronger in that mod.
I don’t think this was down to any of Poland’s abilities, really. It’s mostly work ethic and I think it’s the fact I pushed harder for settling and faith generation.
I haven’t decided if I’m down for another game. It would be fun but I don’t know if I need more games to obsess over right now.
Yes. In war you can “delete” enemy religious units if you have military units in the same tile.
If you have the faith for it a apostle can launch an inquisition that allows you to buy inquisitors with faith to defend and can clean your cities of foreign religions. You need quite some faith saved up for it though.
Deleting religious units in war also decreases that religion’s pressure in nearby cities. The same way your pressure decreases(and mine increases) when I “kill” one of your religious units with mine.
I see so my token Missionary resistance has just been a gift to you…
Well, if you actually do wrap it up in 4 turns or so, very well played! Much earlier than I expected the game to come to a conclusion! And we had such plans for you…
Yes, It’s better to save up for several apostles at the sam time or just launch an inquisition. One single unit usually gets destroyed if the other player has several apostles.
So, back when I played Freeciv on Linux, people used the terms “smallpox” and “largepox” to describe the two strategies of having a bunch of small cities (smallpox) versus growing a few cities and building them up as much as possible (largepox). Are those terms that exist in the Civ community today, that you guys know of?
