Most people managed to flee to safety. You should see the land now that the water is starting to recede. Fertile, soft and beautiful.
Too bad i’m planning to build districts all over the floodplains.
I coded for a few years, then taught a few, but then went back to my roots as a school counsellor. I like people more than pixels, although code is pretty neat. I feel like it takes me ages to do anything, probably a practice thing. It doesn’t light my fire the way a conversation does.
Out for 1-3 days, apologies in advance. Please copy to Land of Lost thread for me, please.
See you in a few. No subs please!
No worries. I hope you’re all right. Take care.
I’m doing much better, thanks.
Still very tired. Basically, I had a serious reaction to a prescription drug (be very wary of prednisone should you be prescribed it! Might not be an issue for you, but for me…!!!) which I’m still recovering from, all this before and after surgery, undiagnosed until nearly a week after.
In-game: I will accept lux for lux trades when I’m ready. Our people have no desire to swap you for a lux they don’t have, when they know this will be of greater benefit to your people, than our own American citizens.
Looks like everyone has toured Gobustan now?
Interesting that we went from the brink of war (this timeline) to global friendship, at least from our perspective.
Over to you, @J_Dennis. Managed to get it in sooner than expected.
I’ve made so many mistakes in this game and there’s obviously stuff I never learned because I really couldn’t be assed playing SP, not the way I get into MP games. Still fun though! And our people are in the midst of a religious awakening, which should hit full stride in the medieval times.
Does Civ 6 have any plagues? I remember the Black Death got implemented in Civ 5, maybe only as a scenario. But those circling vultures / crows were pretty awesome.
How do unit costs work? Charged for your best four units beyond what your civics pay for, or something like that?
Back home again, again, jiggety-jig!
Hmmn…I wonder what’s up with @J_Dennis. Must be something going on, very unlike him to leave a turn for so long–even though it’s not that long and I’m not complaining, just curious!
And no one seems interested in the 8 player game I’ve set up here,
with discussion here.
Hellooooo! Is anybody out there?
Okay…it’s just a little pin prick
It’ll keep you going for the show
Come on it’s time to go…
EDIT: funny, he’d already played the turn by the time I’d posted
I still make mistakes so it’s not all newbie stuff.
There´s a black death scenario in civ 6 too. It came with gathering storm. Some people thought that plagues would be a big part of the third expansion and that Firaxis had to rework some stuff when the pandemic hit. I’m not sure those rumors have any validity.
Unit cost? Every unit has a static upkeep cost. 0 for slingers and warriors, 1 for archers and spearmen. The cost is visible in the civilopedia page for each unit. I remember in civ 4 you could have some troops for free and theyalso had a cost when outside of your territory. All that is gone for a static cost.
I started writing this post the other day but somehow forgot to submit.
There is no pain.
It was just a busy day. I’ve been in Interstellar Overdrive all day, I Remember a Day when I used to take my civ turns in the morning but One Slip and I have to wait until nighttime. Yes, it felt a bit weird not being able to take my turn all day.
Edit: Deep Cut warning.
Early stage withdrawals, but it’s okay now, you got your fix, it’ll keep you going, but you may feel a little sick!
I’m on leave from work still…that probably will all change next week. Then I’ll be playing and posting less frequently.
As it turns out, still working from home next week!
Teddy is putting Harald on notice that no further Viking expansion will be permitted in the lands south and west of what you have already claimed. These are American lands, it is our Manifest Destiny, and we will defend it at any cost.
IF they were closer to your capital, you might have some claim. However, this is clearly NOT the case.
Thank you and good day, Sir!
First World Congress is upon us! I started with a vote, submitted, and then it immediately wanted me to pass the turn. I’m sure I can’t have nothing to move or do. Reloading…
One of the vote options is N/A, it’s about city states. The other…well, I imagine everyone will know what to do with it.
Huh, this must just be how it works, it’s like a half-turn in the middle, before our next turn? My first time with this in PYDT. But all my units had already moved last turn…I guess the vote gets it’s own mini-turn. Not annoying at all!!
Yes, It’s a bit annoying when you’re hoping to move, build and play. It prolongs the game about a day every time congress hits.
The World Congress adds that authentic feel of glacial bureaucracy!
lol …well-played, sir, well-played!
(this is the withdrawn post, just wanted it to be…bureaucratically accurate in it being a reply to a specific post )
We’ve slowed down a fair bit lately. Maybe everyone just had a busy weekend. I’m “working from home” this week, too…which does cut into the time a wee bit.
Yeah, I’ve been a bit busy. Work stuff, birthdays and other stuff that kept me from the computer.
Protip for those who may not have noticed yet: Oligarchy is the only form of government that doesn’t waste a policy slot on diplomacy. For those who would like maximum policy flexibility in the absence of city-states.
Sounds like good priorities.
