OK Confession…
I do not know how to restore the Barb options including Raging.
Not sure if I need to reinstall civ, or what.
So, the barbs are currently defined solely by: selecting Clans, and not clicking No barbs.
Gold:
As the no ‘upgrades, healing on promotion’ are in the same option, i unselected this.
On a whim, i also selected ‘better roads’ for the lulz.
The above was to get the game going. If we do not want the above, then best we junk this game, and Dogboy starts another.
btw the globalparameter setting min distance between major civs was changed from 12 to 20.
This appears entirely unrelated to the issue above.
Those settings look good to me. Also, haven’t played Indonesia in a while so hope I remember how she plays.
Unless none of her traits are active… Must be a selection in Gold that takes away the leader’s traits.
Today was the first time i looked at Gold and its settings and meanings. There are a whole raft of them preselected as default. Apart from the promotions one I deselected, and the ‘better roads’ i selected, all are default.
Removal of traits appears part of its evening everything out philosophy.
btw
Can I ask if you disable all custom dlc, and go into the setup menu - you do see a dropdown for barbs where you can select raging, right?
Yes, it’s under the Advanced Options. It’s there even if you have mods or don’t have mods. You have the following…
Limit turns
No duplicate leaders
Barbarian tribes (balanced, standard, civilized, raging, no barbarians)
No teams
No tribal villages
Teams share visibility.
I guess I need a full reinstall. In that slot I only have a default enabled ‘No Barbarians’ checkbox.
It becomes disabled if Barb clans is selected. The dropdown has disappeared.
What was that min distance setting?
Oh dear… I had changed it from 12 to 24.
Well, the stench from the dog kennel says it is less than 12.
Ugh, are we next to each other again? It looks like we are 10 squares from each other?
Shall we play on or start over?
I don’t know what everything else looks like but that 20 city rule probably does not work.
I guess junk this and start another, trying Dogboy’s min tiles setting that I lack along with the barbs dropdown. No point my trying to start another until i have a full reinstall.
Of course the parm setting i changed might have been overwritten by an equivalent in some dlc somewhere.
If the 20 space rule doesn’t work then let’s play on. Might turn out pretty good, force me and Dan to expand in opposite directions.
We can see how it works. We could just convert to normal rules or make it all war if we want.
As it looks like we are playing on, I am happy to stick to the 20 cities first, before anything else.
I am assuming my 10-tiles-to-tundra location gives me no great advantage.
Sounds good to me. Haven’t explored much so don’t know what the surrounding area looks like. It may force me to kill off the nearby city-states to get to my 20 cities. We’ll see.
It appears the secret societies are ineffective.
Perhaps they’re just super secret.
Maybe it has something to do with DB Gold? I just looked and can’t find anything canceling secret societies but maybe I missed something.
