Land of the Lost (0f128371)

About five hours from now I’ll be gone, camping for three nights.

Did I somehow get my settler back from you, or did you manage to make a clean getaway? One turn I was right on top of your scout and settler, and the next turn the settler was gone without a trace

I think you know you didn’t get it back. And just to clear up the mystery, you won’t.

I realise there will be repercussions.

Lautaro apologies for his rogue scout’s actions.

As a player, this is my way of insisting that you always escort your settlers! Old habits from competitive MP die hard, I’m not sorry to say, even though, believe it or not, I do feel a bit bad about it. The civplayers league I used to play in was pretty cut-throat–if you didn’t take any possible advantage, you could be sure the other guy would.

Rogue scout my ass! My intelligence indicates this atrocity was directed from the highest levels of the Mapuche empire.

This is Lautaro speaking. I have fired my weak propagandist, his lies were not believable enough!

I appreciate your plain speaking. As one ruler to another, I ask you: Why do you not protect your most vulnerable people?

I thought my settler would be protected by the goodwill of the local citizenry, but I see now I was utterly mistaken. We especially did not expect for our unarmed citizens to have their throats cut in front of the whole world (which, granted, consists of only you and me at this point). This barbarous act has forever brought shame upon Lautaro’s so-called empire.

A lowly scout dispatches your citizens, who expected and deserved your protection, and escapes with a promotion, and the shame is mine? May all our warriors and agents be so effective.

It happened, Mt Taal (?) errupted in a megacolossal eruption and roasted my capital. :volcano:

@Yeti_la_Pesadilla you can consider it divine retribution!

Oh nooooooo! Mapuche Fritters!

Yup–half my citizens! :fire::man_shrugging::woman_shrugging::fire:

I’d be lying if I said this didn’t bring a smile to my face…

But I don’t want to gloat too much. If any of us knew what religion was, I’d probably say something spiritual. Given the benighted state of our world, I will instead say, they are dead. Oh well.

We should get some kind of Pompeii-type archeology bonus in the future when this happens.

Alright so another of my volcanoes errupted and I lost another population, I think again from my capital. The city was not damaged and this was from a distance of three tiles! I did not know this could happen!!

I wonder if maybe citizens were working a tile that got whacked? :man_shrugging:t2:

Kongo sends commiserations.

Sorry for the delay. I have had back problems and trouble sitting by the computer. I have had trouble sitting down all together.

Ugh that sounds horrible. Hope you have some relief and improvement soon.

I used to have back issues before I started doing yoga. I’ve also found tai chi helpful. Swimming can help release, too.

F@*#! A volcano just killed my settler! Coupled with that time @Onanista killed my other settler, I’ve lost >15 turns toward settlement…

Ah, that sucks!

I’m always wary about moving settlers near floodplains and volcanoes but I’m often too lazy to take the longer route around those hazards.
