It’s disappointing the player left without a word. I’m not sure it would be fair to ask for a substitute to take on Ethiopia as I suspect I will be able to dominate militarily from here on in. I was anticipating it getting tough though as Ethiopia must’ve been close to discovering Steel that would’ve made their cities very tough and I know they had Coal so could’ve produced Ironclads. Can’t have been too far away from Battleships either 
yeah, he’s just done the same thing very recently in every other game we were both in as well … hope he’s alright irl
reason I ask is: if Ethiopia is an AI, pretty much gonna be a cakewalk for my friend America to dominate the world and pursue whichever victory condition appeals most to him

. In which case I’m happy to go for a substitute and revert the turn so that anyone stepping in doesn’t waste a turn taken by the AI! What do we all think? I’m happy to go along with the decision agreed on by @ArctossX, @kapshul and you @banman39 
I’m personally OK either way, I’ve committed to team America in this game. Only reason I raised it is if I were in @Peteyboy ‘s position, I’d feel like ethiopia switching to AI had robbed me of a good bit of the funnest part of the game, and of course if anyone else were entertaining ideas of winning the game ethiopia becoming AI and then falling to America would essentially make that very unlikely if not impossible. That being said, Ethiopia has gotten itself into a hard position – I think a competitive position with no guaranteed outcome either way – but a hard position. Probably wouldn’t appeal to all potential substitutes, but I could see it appealing to skilled players looking for a challenge …

For me acceptable both options.
I like to be honourable when playing and am intending to liberate Georgian cities and any City States such as Mexico. I would not want to turn on my allies that helped me achieve my current position so was aware that a Religious Victory might be a possibility for Poland. That said, I am intending to take Ethiopia’s capital and surrounding cities to Make America Great Again . Not sure how easy that’ll be if Ethiopia does discover Steel in the next turn or so. And I have sacrificed a great deal of potential progress in fighting the Aggressor. Although the pillaging has been productive . So I say, let’s play on with Ethiopia as AI and if anyone wants to surrender because the game is no longer enjoyable I’m happy with that. As you said @banman39, we were robbed of a challenging and fun part of the game but I’d feel guilty if we invited a player in and then I was able to summarily wipe them out shortly after.

Hi @banman39 and @kapshul. Thanks for playing this one out. I think it’s a shared victory with @banman39 as we joined forces to defeat Ethiopia. I know I ended up embracing Taoism to prevent Poland’s chance at a Religious Victory so apologies for that. Think that’s my first Science Victory
