I joined. Is online speed the speed of choice? I prefer normal speed, but will play online.

Im new here. How do I join the game?

The thread is a chat about the game we are playing. But I will reply to give you a headstart.

The shortest learning curve:

  1. Download the PYDT client. Link it to your account on this website.
  2. Join an open game (via the open games webpage; I check constantly for open games). Stay random as a civ or select a civ if the game setup allows.
    (warning, lots of password protected games, could take a while to find one. But I will create a 4 player game soon.)
  3. Wait for your turn (it is a slow start to get playing but I have 8 games going now).
  4. The client (including the system tray icon turning red), and email will notify your of your turn (set email address in your profile).
  5. In the client, click “Play your darn turn!”. Do not click back to the game list yet.
  6. Load CIV, goto multiplayer, hotseat, load game. Save is called “(PYDT) Play this one!”
  7. Play your turn, click next turn when done. Click Save and save over “(PYDT) Play this one!”. You wont be able to play the next person’s turn as it will be password protected.
  8. Exit or alt-tab to your client which would have detected the save game file changing, giving the option to upload. Otherwise, come to the game webpage to upload your save. Look up where your save file for hotseat is on the web if you need to do that.

Well this game will be interesting. I’m on a frozen island. The only 3 tiles I can work are snow. I have ice to my south. Only 1 fish is workable, but as soon as my borders expand I will have 2 fish and 2 crab. I don’t expect to do much in this game except hit end turn for a long time.

@Valamas, @Maxmcg. i’m getting a mod compatibility issue with most recent save. unless anyone objects i’ll just resign, rather then try to revert/fix. since i’m pretty much dead anyways.

The good people of Ottoman’s Folly can finally know peace after decades of war, and go hiking at Mount Testicle and swimming at Pecker Point.

I think I definitely had the best start. I felt bad for the guy who played Dido and spawned on Ice with almost no workable tiles. Didn’t get to see all of Happycamper’s lands but didn’t look great from what I could see.

ggs. ottoman lands were very cold, just more tundra.

Max that was me. I had 0 workable tiles when the game started. Had to research fishing just to work some tiles. But it is what it is.
