Smack talk goes here for Spring Goon Game! Game URL: https://playyourdamnturn.com/game/1497fb32-bad8-4b12-ac85-faf44ad68d25
The game is on. Have fun! See you in a few weeks
Well, my start has drained a lot of my optimism. That’s not ideal.
Hey, you’re Cyrus, just go take someone else’s starting position!
At least you’re not Gandhi in a game full of militaristic civs Well… just you wait until I get to nukes.
My start has no fresh water. At least I’m on the coast I guess.
Also, hey. Being Gandhi in this situation has an advantage: Your ability causing extra war weariness means that people may target other people over you to avoid the trouble.
Well, except Alexander. Apparently his ability neutralizes Gandhi’s. He doesn’t even get regular war weariness from him; according to a friend who played the matchup he still gets absolutely none.
That means you got the sailing eureka though, right? Upside!
While it is still suboptimal, the changes to harbor districts and in particular lighthouses make coastal starts significantly better than they used to be, at least.
Remember you can get 1 extra housing per every 2 improvements like cows or fish, if your capital has any. I sometimes forget it and it certainly isn’t helping in my China game. But I have so much stone…
Yeah, I recall that. Unfortunately only two resources in range, and one of them requires Irrigation, when there are no resources to farm in range, so I’m going to have to get that without a Eureka. And probably make a lot of generic farms and stuff.
Not a major issue, just an annoying one that’ll slow things down early a bit. Later on will hopefully not be so bad (or even, as stated, be a good thing, because of Harbors being awesome and stuff now) though.
Well, I’m glad I just settled my settler where it started, as my brief scouting has revealed that the alternatives were worse. Good to know.
R_J starting with the heavy psyops campaign early! I like it.
Not much to do aside of psyops now, right? Not until we have more units to at least scout around.
That said, I fully expect my scouts to discover war-weariness-immune Alexander right next door. I really, really hope I’m not Ulvino’s neighbour.
(Although I suppose my war elephants could help.)
Elephants should need Ivory like in Civ4. :colbert:
I’ve been playing fractal maps recently but I still don’t really “get” them… is there any chance one of us could be isolated in his own island? Asking for a friend.
Oh yes, yes there is. The friend of yours should be rushing Shipbuilding.
Good new, though: “the friend” doesn’t have to invest in defence!
I was actually wondering if I might be on an island, since in three of the directions I’ve seen so far there’s just sea. (Which is what I was talking about when I mentioned scouting earlier; I was pretty sure north was more sea, but thought it might be a river. Was glad I just assumed it wasn’t instead of settling later in a spot that’s no better.) I’ll have to see; there’s too many dang hills here so it’s taking a while.
I gotta install this on my work computer again.
Single Pharaoh seeks man with huge military.
Byzant: Be careful what you wish for. The man could be named Alexander.
Disco: If that allows you to play your turns earlier, by all mean do! Today was a good day, seems like we’ll manage to get two turns in.
Done. should be able to play a little faster now.
Hey guys, tomorrow I’m taking a 12-hour flight. I will probably play my next turn on monday evening depending on the jet lag. I’ll be staying for a week at my mum’s and she has a kickass internet connection so I’m only changing a few time zones (to CET) .
The following week though, I’ll be moving to another city and it may take a few days until I get a new internet connection. This is the fastest PYDT game I’m in and I hope I don’t disrupt it too much since I’m enjoying the pace.
