I’m fine continuing without a replacement as the game will go quicker with Germany as AI. Let’s wait and see if anyone else has any views on this.
The host likely left after I took over two of it’s cities. Given the lack of walls and units in the remaining German cities, I don’t think a replacement would fare much better than AI.

I noticed the hero screen is blank. That’s odd. Pretty sure I had one a couple of years ago.

Well I see we now have only a few turns before the end or the Classical era. It had been stuck on 10 turns for ages! I see we’ve also lost @YogSothoth without even a Goodbye

Very well played Maximilian. This has been a great game, bit of a slow burner and the writing was on the wall a long time ago. Had a good start but made the wrong choice of Worship building and my other beliefs turned out to be poor choices given the game parameters. I think I also missed the opportunity to declare war early on when you started taking City States. Also reckon I choose badly when it came to my Era bonuses. I didn’t expect the eras to last so long! Feel sorry for @Buno given he was stuck in a Normal Age when we were Golden.
Bit disappointed that @petrojbl1 didn’t stick around to make a bit more of a game of it at the end. Surprised that Scythia wasn’t a bit more robust militarily given their unique bonuses but was still a fun scenario and think I’ve learnt a lot about playing a Marathon game. Could do with playing another one now…probably on a much smaller map though!!!

GG guys. Don’t think I’ll be playing a marthon game anytime soon though.
As slow as it is to build things, pillaging is almost a broken mechanic. I’m nearly getting enough gold in one turn to buy a GDR, so it really paid off to be always at war and pillaging.
