ok its on, lets see if I can punish you for leaving me Sumeria (I guess its sort of balanced with the crappy starting location)

First question to discuss: do you think a 4 player map is fair for competitive play?
I personally think that 1v1 looses a lot of the games potential (its virtually war only)
For 6 player maps: it would be quite difficult to find a balanced map in first place

Warcarts are a beast! Nothing stronger in the early game, and nothing can stop them…I think.

I think a 4 player map is fair, but I don’t like the standard 4 player maps like 4-leaf clover. Yes, it is fair because all starting positions are equal. But after you play them a few times it takes some of the excitement out of exploring. I don’t really like tiny maps, but at least we will meet each other soon.

1v1 games are fun. I’m playing a series of 1v1 with somebody and it has been fun. Unfortunately for me he is winning 3 to 1. I hope to beat him on our next game.

Every time I spawn a unit, the barbs have just beat me to it.

Not familiar with 4 player maps so hard to comment.

dogboy: I only now realize that those warcarts dont cost any upkeep as well. they def. need a nerf at some point. I agree on 4-leaf clover maps not being fun, I much prefer asymetric map design. What would you suggest as standard map settings?

My personal preference for standard map settings, it to keep a standard map. No 4-leaf clover. No 6-leaf clover. I have played those maps, and they were fun, but by now I have those two maps memorized so they are not much fun anymore.

I like the TSL Earth, but have played it enough that I don’t want to play it anymore. I like the exploration part of the game. The biggest problem with doing a “standard” map is somebody might get a bad starting position. The way you set this game up - looking at all the starting positions to make sure none are horrible - is a good fix to prevent horrible starting positions.

testing with shuffle maps I found that they generally have more landmass, which the fractal 4 players maps tend to be a bit short of where many maps are like the current one with 2 and 2 players spawning quite close to each other

Matterhorn bonus seems to be bugged, particularly frustrating being a swiss and hobby climber myself :slight_smile:
