Can I develop my game to use PYDT?

Hello there!

My friends and I just found this site and I think it is great. We’re likely going to be using it once my other friends feel motivated. Based on my initial impression of this site, it is basically exactly the system I’ve been planning to implement for a game I worked on between roughly 2012 and 2017. I never released my game for 2 reasons: My artist gave up on the game (for a reason I have always felt was ludicrous, but I have someone else I can pay for art now), and it was a browser game that used Silverlight, which is no longer around.

However, my code is still 100% functional, and has been tested quite thoroughly (we played it a lot), though I do have some changes to make to it still. It ended when I was about 80% done with the programming. I actually have a game loading up in Unity, I just need to wire up the controls again and in theory it will be functional again. I have 4 main milestones left before I consider it complete. One of those milestones is setting up basically exactly the system you have set up here on PYDT.

So naturally, I’m curious, do you allow other developers to develop a game using PYDT as its main multiplayer option? Obviously I’d let you see it first before you committed to anything. It’s a fantasy turn based strategy that was was inspired by Civ and Age of Wonders. It was meant to be a faster Civ with magic and more robust combat. That being said, it’s a very different game than Civ or Age of Wonders, and was designed with asynchronous play as the only method of online play. Most of the people who tested it with me loved it, and I personally think it was a pretty fantastic game before Silverlight went away and my artist stopped working on it.

To be clear, if this was possible, it would likely be at least a few months before it’s in a state where I could start implementing online functionality. It’s also not currently in a state I can show you either, all my Unity program does right now is load in a game and show it, there is no way to affect the game state using the interface (though it’s all programmed in, as I mentioned I just have to wire it up). Also, while the person I can pay for art is a skilled professional, she has time limitations so it might be a while before I have all the art done. I would also need to get some music made for it, but I have like 10 different friends who can do the music for me, that’s not something I’m particularly concerned about.

Thanks!

Rickie
