Ares' Playground (ac3631ae)

Smack talk goes here for Ares’ Playground! Game URL: https://playyourdamnturn.com/game/ac3631ae-d02f-4fec-9e35-e23fd766ddca

I want to clarify the rules of the game: mandatory war with everyone, including computer players? I hope the rule does not apply to City-States?

Mandatory war with humans and other civilizations on the turn you discover them. Must stay at war with them the entire game. Not required to go to war with city-states.

So yes, war with computer player civilizations is mandatory.

I’m sorry, but tomorrow, January 3rd, I won’t be. I will only be in the evening, the 4th.

Thanks for letting us know Aleks.

Just learned a new thing here. Now been screwed a few times as I assumed archers could not see me if i could not see archers. Apparently vision can be one way…

Perhaps plays the role of terrain. Visibility from a hill is different from visibility from a plain …

Perhaps the archer that is attacking you is on a hill while you are on flat ground in woods. And perhaps there are woods between you and the archer that is positioned on a hill which is why you can’t see the archer.

Now if you stay away from the barbarian camps when I kill the units and you move in for the 50 gold and the era point, perhaps the archer will quit attacking you.

Hmmm.
While I accept game rules without sulking (usually), I was sure that light travels in straight lines in this universe (ignoring anomalous gravitational effects) so an interposed wood would block lines of sight in both directions or neither.

You will have to explain sometime why you did not crush me rather than just annoying me (and killing my development). Long term plan?

Ya, you guys go kill each other and leave me in peace.

I believe in ganging up on the top “dog” but we are at war here.

Only because you destroyed the plan from the get go.
:sob::sob::sob:
I had enough archers to kill off the defences, then the following distant warrior could move in and take the city - except you killed the distant warrior right at the beginning of the attack.
Then 3 different barb camps spawning around me stopped my releasing another warrior.
The lesson i learned against Scythia in the previous always war was to pillage the pastures before the horses appear, but to do that here i had to get near, and you wiped me out. Plus it was mainly your ‘unseen archer’ sallies that drove me away.
Sic transit…

I wish I understand the Civ physics to know how I managed an unseen archer. Useful tactic if I could stumble on it again.

Oh, I thought I was the unseen archer.

I suspect we are talking two different situations.

You both did unseen archer damage. Dan several times - I was slow on the uptake.
The thing is, if a unit has been killed completely, there is no knowing if the archer moved into position before firing. If only injured and you still cannot see the assailant, then its a thing…

In the other always war game, I just got shot by a barbarian archer.
Both it and i were on hilltops but with a forested hill directly inbetween us…but i could see it.

It would be nice to figure it out. Good tactic.
