Stormy War (8d6fcbdc)

Punishment must be adequate.
The variant offered by you contradicts interests of all, except for Scythia. But if the rest of the Players agree with him, I will accept him too. The list of cities please voice.

My reply to your post was intended as a joke…
(I have no idea what advantages you received)
However, the questions I posed before that were serious.

No need to cede cities. It was an honest mistake.

Unfortunately, I am also weak in Diplomacy … One of the reasons is not enough knowledge of English (I use Google translator). This error (incorrect voting) is already the second in my practice. True, the first time the result was a declaration of war that was unfavorable for me, so there I punished myself … (:

I supposedly understand English and I have trouble with it. I really want to condemn all of you but it does not seem to work out correctly.

I don’t speak English. I speak American.

Good move. Compared with English, it has fewer rules and must be easier to learn.
По сравнению с русским языком тем более.

I just saw a comment in another game…

So, would anyone be interested in a game (Not yet? - perhaps wait until this one is finished? ) where either:

  • no war until a late period (modern or atomic?)
    and/or
  • no war at all

Not sure what problems this would raise (other than no ai?) so would there be any other victory conditions to disable? What does everyone think?

I think the biggest problem with no war, or no war until the late period, is a person might get hemmed in by the AI and not be able to expand. They could potentially only have a few cities and get stagnated. But, it might be fun to see what happens. I would try it.

Oh, and one more thing. There needs to be rules on what to do if the AI declares war. Are you allowed to capture their cities? Do you have to make peace with them when they offer peace? Or can you stay at war with them forever?

OK. In my post I was suggesting "(other than no ai?)" there would probably have to be no ai to allow the no-war option. I was thinking only 4 of us on a huge/large map gives more scope for space for development and expansion before the end.

So I agree with you - if ai are allowed we would need protocols - but was contemplating avoiding that problem with a dev only environment.

As I am not familiar with other endings, still not sure what problems or opportunities they might offer, or if we void some of those also?

Ahh, I missed the “other than no ai?” part.

The other problem I see is what will happen when somebody is about to win by cultural, religion, or science? Will the rest of us have to sit by and do nothing and let that person win? And what if somebody starts spamming religious units and converting other people’s cities? We would need protocols if that happens.

Perhaps there are two (or more) kinds of game suggested here?:

  • one where we are waiting on domination (but delaying until the tech gets interesting) - and so perhaps we ban all - or some - other victories ?
  • another where other victories are part of the fun and an actual goal. Need to decide which victories we want and do not want. - in extremis perhaps we have a <victory x or x,y,z> only game?

I am game. I would like to see other parts of the game one way or another. In some ways all war is easier - not that I am good at it but I understand the rules better.

I think we should keep all victory conditions available, but with some special rules.

-No declaring war on another civ until you reach the Modern Era…but with some exceptions.
Exception 1: If Player “x” has 3/4 civs under their religion, then any player can attack Player “x”.
Exception 2: If Player “x” has 2 other civs under their cultural influence, then any player can attack Player “x”.
Exception 3: If Player “x” has 7/10 under diplomatic victory, then any player can attack Player “x”.
Exception 4: If Player “x” has built a spaceport, then any player can attack Player “x”.

Thoughts?

City states?

Cannot attack city-states either until you reach the Modern Era.

GG all. This is my last turn. This game was a disaster for me, I played so poorly. I chose God of the Forge and made a ton of warriors with the intent to upgrade to Legions and steamroll everybody. Biggest problem is it was during this game when the patch came out that made it more expensive to upgrade units. Then I didn’t have iron in my city and had to build a city far away to get iron. Then I lost almost every warrior to the Egyptians.

Good job to Aleks for his part in my destruction. Nicely played.

Yes, at the start of the game, the Romans made the Sumerians worry … Even it was strange that they still managed to solve the Roman problem so easily. Apparently, Sumerians were just lucky (unlike the Romans) that the rest of their neighbors did not pose any problems. Thanks for playing!

I keep making the same mistake.
Apprehensive about a warcart rush, then puzzled by its absence, then fighting to catch up the research deficit. All the time I need to learn to attack and force someone to defend on both fronts.
Now I suspect it will not be warcarts i need to think about…

(Although, it took quite some time to realise i had nothing but ai to my west)
