Real CIV standard game (e91b1c37)

My PC died on me the other day, and I am not sure when I will get it back. Feel free to kick me if you need to go on with the game, otherwise I will continue playing as soon as I get it back… …

wait for few days.

If he doesn’t come back, we will kick him

And so we lose another player due to the real world. You will be missed Turnquest.

From the desk of Roman emperor Trajan (a.k.a. chronodekar),

I expect everyone to be familiar with the fact that the Roman empire is in it’s dwindling years. The downfall began many turns ago after we lost contact with our colonies in the western part of the world. The demon who extinguished the Greek empire had turned his attention on us. We hoped to be able to muster our forces and repel the foreigner, but city after city fell. The Kongo empire had technologies that were, but fiction in our empire!

In the face of this mighty opponent, there was one thing which Rome would NOT do. We wouldn’t give up! And, should our legacy be told, we want the world to know that we see Brazil as a loyal ally who never broke faith with us. It is very likely that the Kongo war machine would turn and swallow our dear Attri as soon as it was done with us. The only thing we could do at this point, was to give Attri a fighting chance. That and to give our citizens a home away from the War machine. Rome’s last stand will be were it all began - at the heart of it’s empire. Our blameless citizens have been sent to Brazil, to keep them safe. And to avoid the humiliation of having to shift our capital city.

====

I came in here to say something before my fall. Looking back on this thread, I need to say that I’m touched. We began this game more than a year ago - July 2017! Didn’t even realize that a year passed. A lot happened, but we kept playing. Before the end, I just want you folks to know that it’s been fun. It hasn’t been easy playing a turn almost every day, but … wow. This feels like the completion of a really big project for me. Granted, I lost, but the journey’s been great!

Any chance you folks would want to do another one? (without a domination victory, if possible? )

I loved this game, but of course I’m biased.

The map was wondrous for me. Only one other civ to share an entire continent with! And if that wasn’t good enough, the other human player dropped on turn 3! I took India’s capital with slingers. Slingers! And no one else was around to stop me forever. Then turnquest dropped out right when our borders started connecting, leaving me with yet another AI to conquer, instead of a competent opponent.

I had a ludicrous amount of cities and an insane tech advantage, due to nothing but outside influences. I’ll play to the end, but now I have planes in the air and I reckon this is just in mop up phase.

Will absolutely play with you guys again. Make a game and I’ll join. Would love to see what happens when everything is fair (as it can be for civ anyway)

Domination should be included though. Huge part of multiplayer.

Where even was Germany? North of Brazil I’m guessing? Harsh draw.

That’s right. They were north of Brazil.

To their credit, they played a really good blitz game during the initial few areas. Not sure if they captured any Brazilian cities, but they did capture the Greece capital to the west of Rome. A few turns later, that player resigned and the AI settled for peace handing the city over. About this time Brazil had troops defending his cities and I took the opportunity to grab Athens. It was a success, especially since Germany was in no position to send reinforcements (I doubt if Brazil would have allowed that many troops to just pass by without SOME retaliation).

My unfortunate problem at that point, was that the city was officially a German city. Rome and Germany never settled for peace, so it was always occupied and didn’t do much of anything for me, besides marking territory.

I had an army at that time, so marched them over to capture a few more Greek cities to the west, eventually pushing out my own settlers for a natural Roman settlement. Which was the height of the Roman empire in this game.

When you waged war against Greece, I decided to try and flank him from south, but never captured a city in time - eventually withdrawing my troops.

And … you know the rest.

By the time Brazil conquered Germany, Athens was in Kongo hands. Hmm… did you get the opportunity to “liberate” that city? To either Germany or Greece?

For a new game, I only have base Civ6 and none of the expansions. Hope that’s fine? Or should I also get Rise and Fall?

-chronodekar

I don’t mind playing vanilla, but I would recommend Rise and Fall as it does make the game more enjoyable, and will probably be easier to get players for. If you dig Civ 6, I’d say its worth it.

Hmm… well looks like I’m finally out.

Can we start a new game with just base? I’ll grab R&F when it comes on a sale.

-chronodekar

fine with me.

FYI though, I will be unavailable next week through the end of the month.

GG everyone. I was happy with the way I played it, but I’m not blind to the massive advantage I got in having half of the available land to myself for pretty much the whole game. I hope to play with you guys again under more fair circumstances.

Big props to Attri for sticking it out till the end. Showed real class.
