This is also with economic civs only?
I am attached to historic civilisations (randomized to make draft faster and easier).
But I was asking the question myself before creating the game. I choosed to go for historic but if some of us think that it’s better to go for economic civilisations. We can go for it too.
Are there enough economic civs for us to each have an antiquity age economic civ? If not, I’m willing to risk being assigned a non-apex civ, I think it is called, if we expand the pool to exploration and modern civs.
So:
Historic civ or Economic civ but all era allowed?
I vote for historic again ![]()
What are you guys voting for?
I have no strong preference, but if forced to vote, I’d say historic so we’ll each get an antiquity civ.
There are 6 Economic Antiquity Age civs, 7 Economic Exploration Age civ and 4 economic modern civs.
The civilization you play is more important for the playstyle than the leader. So, if you want to play a more economy based game, you need economy civilizations. We will have 8 players in this game. I vote we get a random civilization from any age, and we have to keep them for the whole game.
And also maybe we even have economic victory as the only winning condition.
I kind of agree with your statements.
I vote for economic victory as the only winning condition and only economic civs. We ban one civ and every player get a draft of 2 economic civs to start with. I wouldn’t vote for keeping a civ for the whole game, it can be really frustrating in civ 7.
I don’t have experience with keeping a civ the whole game. why can it be frustrating? and if we change the civ in the next age, how do we do that?
Well, in my understanding, if you keep an antic economic civ to exploration and moreover modern ages, you’re likely to feel it unadapted to the era gameplay.
About changing the civ, i don’t really understand your point. You pick the economic civ you’d like or you keep your current one. The same as your other civ 7 games actually, but with the “only economic rule” this time.
we are going to have 8 players. and according to your count we don’t have enough economy civilizations for any age. so we have to play civs, that are not in their apax age. alltogether we have 17 civilizations. we can do the draft of 2, as you suggested. when we hit exploration age there are 9 civs left to choose from for 8 players, if someone want to change. It is very likely two players want to choose the same civ, most likely an exploration age civ. at best we can randomly assign every player one of the remaining 9 civs, and he can choose to keep his civ or change to the new one. It is not fair the first player can choose from all 17 civs, and the last player has to take what’s left.
That’s why I said, randomly assign a civ to a player and he has to keep it. It is the most simple solution. But it is fine for me to have a little choice
You got another way that the game “uses”: the same civ can be picked by multiple players. It’s actually the most simple solution.
I don’t know the answer to this… Can we duplicate the civs at all? We can each have unique leaders, it seems, but maybe a couple of us have to be the same civ to make this work?
Ok, you are right. However I would prefer everyone has a unique civ.
Technically, we can. Next, if we don’t us to duplicate, we can’t ![]()
I created this game with the idea of encouraging mostly economic play, rather than strictly limiting it.
However, that seems to be causing some issues, so sticking to historical civilizations might be easier.
As one of you asked, the real question is: Should we allow only an Economic Victory, or keep all victory types enabled?
If everyone is competing for the exact same victory, it might become very tough to achieve. I haven’t played through the third era yet, so I’m not entirely sure how it plays out. My goal was just to have a more economy-focused game while keeping things open.
Let’s go with historical civilizations (I enjoy the RP aspect in Civ), but let me know what you think: Economic victory only, or all victories?"
I haven’t played far enough into modern for an economic victory, but I think the “lead” you have to have over others keeps shrinking until there is a winner, even if it’s only by a few percent. I’m O.K. with that. Might be a longer game, but no problem for me. Thanks!
For me everything is ok ![]()
